Join us Saturday, November 7th for an elegant evening of world-class jazz featuring internationally recognized vocalist and pianist Donna Tucker!

A Kansas native whose career has taken her from Dallas jazz clubs to an extended engagement at the Westin Tokyo in Japan, Donna brings a sophisticated blend of jazz, blues, swing, and Latin influences to every performance. Her rich vocals, expressive piano playing, and fresh interpretations of timeless standards make this a night jazz lovers won’t want to miss.

Join us for a special night of WSU Student performances. Three student commercial music ensembles will perform Sunday, November 8 at 7:30 PM at Somewhere Works.

The concert spans funk, soul, classic rock, alternative, grunge, pop, and indie music.

Funk and soul selections include Stevie Wonder’s “Higher Ground” and “I Wish,” Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You,” Bill Withers’ “Use Me,” and Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.”

Rock and alternative selections include Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” Stone Temple Pilots’ “Interstate Love Song,” Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun,” Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” and Foo Fighters’ “Everlong.”

Additional selections include Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” Men I Trust’s “Show Me How,” John Mayer’s “Vultures,” Julia Wolf’s “In My Room,” Steely Dan’s “Peg,” Michael Sembello’s “Maniac,” and No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak.”

All three groups feature live rhythm sections, with combinations of vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, and saxophones. The ensembles range from an intimate four-piece group to larger bands featuring multiple vocalists, saxophonists, and rotating drummers.

Audiences can expect familiar songs reinterpreted by emerging musicians, with each ensemble bringing a distinct sound and stage presence.

We’re kicking off the evening in unforgettable fashion as Denny Jiosa returns to Wichita with Kim Trujillo, Jon Consiglio and special guest Sage Judd. Whether you’ve been with us since day one or this is your very first visit to Somewhere Works, we invite you to be part of this special night.

Leading the charge is Denny Jiosa, a 4-time Grammy-nominated guitarist, music producer, and recording engineer whose sound stretches across jazz, gospel, rock, and beyond. As the founder of Jazzcat Studio and the Sonic Canvas label, Denny doesn’t fit into boxes — he builds his own lanes. His playing is sharp, soulful, and electrifying, blending technical brilliance with pure feel.

Denny studied production at Anderson University before venturing into the touring circuit. He joined Troy Shondell’s ‘50s rock revival band, opening for luminaries like B.B. King and Bo Diddley, before heading west to attend the Guitar Institute of Technology, where he honed his jazz chops under the tutelage of masters like Frank Gambale. Eventually relocating to Nashville, Denny forged a dual path as a session guitarist and studio engineer. His production and engineering credits span a diverse array of artists, including gospel, country, jazz, and more. Through his work with artists like Yolanda Adams and Ben Tankard, his contributions have garnered worldwide acclaim.
